Coins of Constantine I, (the Great) and Family

I admit it.....I like Constantine era coins. They were minted when the Roman empire was in the process of changing forever. The Christian "cult" was gaining support, not only from more and more of the population of Rome, but from the government as well.

I also like the coins from this era, because while they don't have the huge number of different reverses that many of the earlier coins had, they have many very subtle differences that make collecting the various series an interesting and challenging treasure hunt.

Among my favorites are the small bronze coins: the "campgates", VOTA, and the humble GLORIA EXERCITVAS coins.

The following pages have some examples of each.
